Hi terra1174.
Here's my recommendation.
Surf to the web site of Berkshire Hathaway and download the letters to shareholders from Warren Buffett for free. You can do the same with Fairfax Financial Holdings and the letters of CEO Prem Watsa. In this way you can learn from very successful investors without any costs!
Further, don't forget about timing. I'm very impressed by Elliott's wave theory. Perhaps you will read a book about it.
I wish a lot of success!

Google search these keywords and read the articles about them and understand why they are important and how they are used to tell you the possible future movement of a stock; "technical stock analysis", "stock Technical indicators", "fundamental stock analysis", "Volume index", "Bolinger bands", "MACD stock indicator", "3 point moving average".
You can use to look at near real time stock charts, use the advanced charting and along the left hand column, when you are looking at a stock chart, it will give you the options of adding in the indicators listed above.
The Chicago Board of Options Exchange has some AWESOME online training tools and courses.
The elite traders forum has some good resources, but the people there can tend to be a little egotistical.
I know it seems like a lot of information, but it really is necessary reading before you even begin to try and understand what is going on.
