Today I don't need neither of them. As a employee you hold down a " J.O.B." Just Obey Boss. And as an Entrepreneur you end up dealing too much with people , managing money , adminstration ,sale , motivation and a whole lot of them. I love the position of an investor where you have full control of your money and every single cent is a worker that don't show you faces and answer you back. You don't need to built team. You don't need to market . You got to keep every single cents you made. What most people fail to realise is that an Entrepreneur manage at the least 80% of other people money. When you collect the money you have to start to distribute it out to your supplier and services provider for you. You even need to go to the extend of employing people to do taht for you. At time you even have to place your money out front too. So I choose to be an investor making sure my money work hard for me and with leverage.

T.Bellum<Asia Pacific Region> Well, that's a very interesting opinion T. Bellum. I've personally started as an Entrepreneur to learn those skills required to start any business from start. Now, I do want to become an Investor also though. It's just a matter of perspectives and deciding what's best for you. Also, in times when the Internet has become the fastest and most effective way to communicate in the world, those tasks can be achieved more easily. What do you invest in anyway? Real Estate? Commodities? To Your Success. See How To Make More Money Than A Highly Paid Doctor Without The Expensive 10+ Years Degree HERE

Seeing these posts are 1 year old and 2 months old respectively I would agree with the arguments for investor and entrepreneur. To be a good investor though is to be a good entrepreneur. The skills learned as entrepreneur lead to the skills of a good investor. As for the 80% going to expenses, it does not hold true that much gets spent on every business or even close to a majority of businesses. I did a yahoo screen of profit margins recently and turned up the most profitable companies, lumber resource groups, as the most profitable around 70-90% profit margins. The list goes on and on of profit margins and suffice it to say most stocks (well really about 2500 of them) hang out below 20% profit margins. Ebay is another example of slim profit margins that can teach essential business skills. The investing versus business building argument is far from over and can yield up some interesting conversations.

I have to slightly disagree with you there T because being a business owner and an investor goes hand in hand. eg you invest time and energy into your business to make it grow. Being an investor you simply invest the money. However where do you think you invest that money? In other businesses of course!
Now if you invest your money in other businesses when you are an investor why dont you simply take that same money and invest in a business and hire a management team for that business? Its basically the same concept T
That is what I do and it seems to work fine for me. :)

Very interesting comments.
I can see how one would view being an entrepreneur or business owner as simply having a job as well, in line with an employee.
But ... you are building an asset and you get access to many great tax breaks.

It boils down to mindset, someone doing clerical work can either be
1. working for an employer (E), 2. offering his client his set of skills (S), 3. one of the not so outstanding way of raising funds for his/her next project (I) 4. simply building a reputation so that he can setup a more formal establishment later (B).
