There will be inflation and the standard of living will go down. That’s the effect the higher fuel prices will have on the people, said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. “The rakyat is already burdened by the rising cost of living. We cannot justify the increase by saying that our fuel price is still lower than Singapore,” he said.*
Almost everyone I know are discussing, angry or complaining about the recent increase in petrol price in Malaysia. People are already contemplating to get by the increasing cost of transportation by suggesting various means such as car-pooling, buying a fuel-saving car, taking public transportations, or even cycling to work. Well, I must say that these are valid moves to reduce our daily expeneses. BUT… how long can we continue doing this to keep reducing our standard of living? This is a defensive financial approach towards our personal finances.
There is another way.

hey... i just saw this malaysian thread. I am Eric from JB. I totally agree with the defensive financial approach. There is this story: If you put a frog in a pot of water, it will swim comfortably in the water. If we slowly warm the water, the frog will still feel comfortable, like a spa. :) Because the frog is cold blooded, so it will keep adjusting the body temperature. If we keep heating the water, the frog will keep adjusting without realising the situation. Until a certain point, the water will be too hot that the frog probably cannot survive. Same for our situation now. We are doing very passively facing the current economy situation. We always adjust our lifestyle to the economy, rice price increase, we eat potato, fuel price increase we drive less, take public transport, without really knowing what is the situation. There will be one day that we can't adjust anymore and will be like the frog. So i strongly agree that all of u should look for alternative way to get our of the situation now. Find your way out of the heating water!

The world are moving faster and faster. KL plan to be a World Class City by 2020. As such ,standard and cost of living will defintely become higher. In order to match the speed of progress, Malaysia need to progress with it.Those who are complaining can just sit there and be left behind. If you are sitting on a nail and in pain , get out and move away from it , complaining will not remove your pain. That is the reason why only 20% of the people are rich , whilst the rest will blame the government , the society , the bosses or some even their parents. You yourself have your own fate in your hand , you need to move on.You don't want to continue to live in kampong. With the access to internet everyone can have the same opportunity world wide. Kuala Lumpur have very good board band , so stop gving excuses . Since you are here in RichDad forum I believe you are different from the rest who are not here.
