I' ve been building this site up for a few months (since February 2005 actually)....and despite the work involved sometimes I' m honestly having a lot of fun with it.

Some of you here have suggested ideas for posts and/or contributed links to resources I could write about. I very much appreciate that.

The PR has jumped to a 4 and rising...and the total reciprocal relevant links are going up too (although that does fluctuate some due to SE fickleness). Both mean that my SEO is pretty good and I' m getting decent online traffic from web searches (Google, Yahoo, and MSN....plus blog directories).

If anyone is interested in doing a business blog...I may be biased but I think this is a really good example to get some ideas from at least:

http://Best-MLM-Resources.blogspot.com

You' re welcome to drop on by anytime and don' t forget to leave a comment. Feel free to share the posts with anyone you like. Please use the individual blog post link to do that (at the bottom of each post...can also use the " email" it link).

FYI....I also have a non-MLM site at http://Broadband-Nation.blogspot.com if you' d like to see another example. Takes some time & effort to set-up...some time to maintain (adding new content - posts). But not that bad if you choose a theme you have an interest in.

I suggest if you do want to set up your own blog....that you select a theme you have an interest/passion in and some expertise. You' re more likely to stick with it...find like minded people who share that interest (generates traffic and relationships)...and benefit more from the experience (sales, sign-ups, relationships, networking, referals).

Do NOT to make it an outright sales site. That becomes obvious to the readers. Instead share info, experiences, ideas, resources, a passion for something. I have a friend who loves scubba diving and gets lots of customers and new sign-ups from folks just " connecting" through her blog and that shared love (her business is a health/nutritional MLM). I' ve another friend who does the same thing with a travel blog (their MLM just happens to be travel oriented too).

Now....I started my blog in February as a repository for all the resources I' ve been sharing for sometime in forums like this one. Kind of took off from there with sharing everything I could find that I thought was useful....including recommendations from personal research, friends, and various forums.

The " theme" pretty much captures it all:

" The Best MLM Resources, Tips, Ideas, Tools, Leads, News, Insights, Discussions...And Anything Else I Can Find Or Pull Out Of My Own Socks To Share. All For YOU"

Ya' ll are welcome to stop by anytime and hopefully take away something useful. Just remember....search the archives as there' s a ton there you won' t want to overlook.

And do consider doing your own blog. It' s a blast.

God Bless,
Michael

I also suggest you do a Google search to see how popular your topic is. If it is popular and you see lots of ads on the right side of the Google page you know there is an opportunity to place Adsense ads on your blog which will increase your potential revenue from your blog. A high popularity will also increase your exposure.

No point in putting the time into a topic that interests you if you can' t make any money off it - unless of course you have more money than time and don' t need the money :)

Michael,

Edit your list of companies. Some of company you mentioned are out of business. Also how did you determine which companies would make the list? Did you track your results with every company and do a side by side comparison? Or just check them out and make a choice about them?

John,

Read the post again. The 1 you are talking about is an article from Doug Firebaugh. Can' t very well edit copyrighted work. Plus....he expains exactly what his criteria was in the article. I suggest you contact Doug if you have questions though. he' s a pretty down to earth guy and I' m sure would love to chat with you about it.

Michael

Michael,

Ditto on all of the blog comments. I' ve looked several times and it' s a great resource. We' re starting one to share some of the business successes and lessons learned. We feel something like that could be useful for those in the business or thinking about one.

Regarding online tools, have you seen webex.com? They might have what you are looking for.

Take care,
Jason
