I just posted this in the General Discussion Forum, so it might make sense to respond there....but here goes.

Hey Everyone:

I was wondering if you could help me out. Over the past year or so, my newsletter subscribers have sent me various suggestions for books that I should be reviewing for my newsletters. I?ve compiled their requests, along with some of the books I?ve read in the area of Wealth-Building and Investing.

What I need help with is the following:

#1 If you see that one of your favorite books is missing, ADD it to the list. Add a book ONLY if it's not already on the list.
NO DUPLICATES please to shorten this thread.

#2 List out your Top 5 or 10 Investing/Wealth-Building Books in order from #1 to #10 if possible. Obviously we'll have duplicates here, but I didn't want 34 request of
"man you should have put Rich Dad Poor Dad on the list"

I think this could be an excellent exercise and create a ?MUST READ? list of books. I plan on reviewing numbers one through ten this year for my newsletters.

Thanks for the help.

fabman,

wow. what a list. I consider myself pretty well read, but that list is staggering!!

Anyway, I *was* going to suggest Your Money or Your Life, but it's not technically a wealth-building or investing book. Then, I saw that you have included it.

That being the case, I recommend you add "Getting a Life" by Jacqueline Blix and David Heitmiller. It's the follow up to YMOYL and shows how real people have applied the YMOYL principals.

Later!
Jon

See you at the Top - Zig Ziglar
Monk Riddle - Randy Komisar
Seeds of Greatness - Denis Waitley
Wealth is not an Accident - Tommy Newberry

I also thought it would be a good idea to include a few magazines. Maybe you could list the top 5 or 10 magazines.

Fast Company
Forbes

Great list Fabman

I noticed 'Over the Top' and 'See you at the Top' by Zig Ziglar already in the list or added suggestions.

Im sure the first book in the series should also be included - 'Steps to the top'

EDU,

I've read some Kotler and Porter books, so I know how important they can be. Having completed my MBA, I was forced to read too many "strategy" books that weren't rooted in reality, especially when it came to people issues. My intent was to stray away from the technical books, in order to focus on the more general books that can help individuals Mind Their Business, as well as help them to learn to invest in RE and stocks.

I didn't want books on trend analysis and 200 moving day averages to buy stocks, rather I was looking for books like Beating the Street or The Index Fund Solution.

I do see your point however, so feel free to post your suggestions at will.

I think the list is already very long. A star system with some kind of short comments might be helpful.

spideyman,

I plan on creating a ranking system at some point, but I'll have to talk to my tech friend.

The idea is to create a list of the best books that people have come across and perhaps create a java applet or cgi-based method of ranking the books ie, people just select their top 10 books, etc.

Hope that makes sense.

I am also reading Robert Kiyosaki's first book, (prior to Rich Dad Poor Dad) "If you want to Be Rich And Happy Don't Go to School. I am only in the second chapter, but it kind of has the same tone of Rich Kid Smart Kid.

I also do not think I saw The Business School for People Who Like Helping People, The Eight Hidden Values of a Network Marketing Company" It is a Great Book for those interested in going down that path.

John

As I've read about half of the books listed in this thread, I am very surprised that no one mentioned my favourite, the one without which I would have given up my dreams:

What a great list! I've been thinking about doing something like this myself!

One that I would add to the biography section is "Texas Rich" by Harry Hurt III. Great book on the life of oil-magnate H. L. Hunt. (Just don't pattern your entire life after this guy!)

Thanks for starting the thread!
