Soon to be vet looking for best options.
I will soon be a veteran and will have available to me a near no-cost post-secondary education.  I have always wanted my own business, within specific areas possibly including manufacturing, restaurants, realestate, and possibly an online venture.  I have little experience or advice available to me, except for my father who has owned and sold/rented out small amounts of houses/apartments.  I would appreciate a point in the right direction as far as college degrees or programs which could lead me towards a bright long term financial education and future.  Business, obviously, and industrial engineering are areas of interest but I am not sure if these are the best areas for what I am looking for.  Any advice would be much appreciated.

I agree with Brian, the world is your oyster, and all you have to do is find your passion.  That is one of the secrets to success in life, is to find and do something that you are passionate about.  It makes getting up in the morning easy. lol

If you want to learn some more about marketing, here is a link to a 7 video free course on marketing that you can look at.  Who knows maybe your passion will be in teaching people how to make money online, like mine is. lol

So ignore the leaches on here that are just trying to sell things.... it's like blood in the water, it brings out the sharks.
Thank you for your service, first of all. Suggestions... don't go to school right off. I'm a former Marine so I know youre MGIB lasts 10 years but will only pay for 4. So you have 6 years to decide where to go. Rushing into a school will probably have you choosing the wrong path. Whatever school you do decide to go to, just remember they will teach you to be an employee not the owner of a business. My suggestion, if you're sincere about starting a business, would be to start researching how the business you want to start might do in your community. The local Chamber of Commerce is a good starting place to get information about demographics and possible demand for your type of services. Just keep in mind that it's about the business system, not the product or service. "Anyone can make a better hamburger than McDonalds. But can they deliver billions through a better system?"

I would say that you're already pointed down a solid financial path because you're here asking questions. I've ready most of Roberts books multiple times and I've started implementing what he says into my life and it's legit. So my take is limit liability, understand your risk, get cash flow and have fun. If you're not enjoying yourself then it's just not worth it.
