My First Investment
Hello,

I'm looking for suggestions for my first small investment with very little capital.

I am a creative person and up until this point have not been money-minded at all. I am a 34-year old musician and graphic artist living in Los Angeles. After so long of living paycheck to paycheck, not having a great salary, I just started looking for ways to change financially, and learn some things so that I can start building some capital and not just struggle to barely get by every month.

I recently read "RIch Dad, Poor Dad" and would like to get going with the concepts in real life. I'm looking for suggestions from you who have experience with money & investing. What are some ideas or a good place to start?

I make around $60k a year salary, its my only source of income.

I'd be interested in any ideas which would give me a starting point. Looking for others who are in a similar situation as mine financially, to get some specific ideas for a first-time small investment. I want to simply test the waters right now just to get myself into the game fully immersed.

If you can give me a range of very specific ideas, I'd be much obliged.

Thanks in advance!

John, you need to read the rest of the Rich Dad/ Rich Dad Advisor books.  You will be taken advantage of if you don't.

Thanks, I will look into buying the rest of the series & reading them.

Meantime, still would love to hear some inspiring stories of what others' first small investment was, to give me some ideas of my own for how I could start.

So far in the running: small cap stocks, resource stocks, silver/gold, online biz, etc.

Suzi Orman has a bunch of stuff for people who do not want to learn, just to be spoon fed.

Thanks for the Orman reference. Learning through example and hearing others' first investment stories is different than being spoon fed though. The idea is not to mimmick but simply be inspired into action through others' successes.

This forum is titled 'how do i get started?' for those just getting into the game. A little inspired encouragement and idea inspiration is all I seek. So with that said, I enourage any & all who are further along than me, to do what Kiyosaki recommends in his book... teach what you know, and in doing so, the universe gives you back ten, twenty, one hundred fold.

Thanks in advance for your help!

The books are replete with excellent stories of the type you seek.

In the end you will find it's all about the way you think.

John,
Living in your shoes I know how it goes.
I would recommend acquiring some gold/silver as a start. To learn more about this I would check-out the website of former Rich Dad Advisor, Mike Maloney, at www.goldsilver.com.
The advice to read the advisor series is also sound advice as well as Robert's "Prophecy". Things area going to get really dicey in the world economy and he does a great job of breaking things down.

To john from another Jon

I have read your post about wanting to make an investment on a small budget.  What is your target for this investment and what to you want to gain from it. If you have a target and goal in mind for where you want to be and how you want to be in the future then use that to determine if making a investment in it will work out.

Have you thought about investing in your self. Thought about changing what you do in your life and where you do it.

I changed from working in the police to working online, now i can work from where i want and earn how much i want to certain degree it depends on what i do online.

What i am trying to say is that if you do not have a targetted goal in mind of what you want to do and where, your investment will be just that with no target to aim for.

I started with SFM only a few months ago but i have been able to change my joba dn work when i want from where i want as long as i had a interent connection. I work on giving people faith and value that if they want to change their job and life they can do.

Have a look at my website www.jonathanmartin-online.com and see what you think on how i have done.  if you want more information on what i am doing then http://thesfm.com/jonathan1985 click on this link to recieve some emails from myself giving you only information about what and where i am doing it.  I am not selling to you John, you make the decision on what you want to do. All i am saying is that i have been able to invest in myself and changed what i do.

RE:My First Investment
I am also trying to start looking into my first investment. Over the past few months I have been looking at cheap property to rent out. I have been saving money on the side for my first investment but I am not exactly sure what to do yet.

I have heard about purchasing gold and silver as the value of both wiill rise over the next few years. Other than that, property investments seem to be a smart way to go. The markets are low right now and if you have time to be a landlord than this may be a start.
