How to find a good financial planner?
I've been to three planners so far and have been extremely dissapointed. I've been selecting independent planners so I won't end up with someone that just wants to sell certain mutual funds or banking services, but i can't seem to find one that takes me seriously.

I've got a decent amount of extra income every month and I've been considering real estate or stock investments or starting a business.

I've got no debt except my mortgage, I've got six months in savings. I'm getting the most out of my Roth and 401K. I've got safe covered, but when I express that I want to be more agressive and plan to retire early, it's as if I said 'help me win the lottery.'

Is there a resource or website for finding more progressive planners? I feel like I'm going in circles.

any advice would be appreciated. I'm new to the whole 'rich dad' philosophy, but am really excited by what I hear.

RE:How to find a good financial planner?
Ann,

The problem is that most financial advisors think 10-15% is an amazing return.  And when you invest in mutual funds, and other typical products it is for those products.

It depends what your goals are, but if you are committed to achieving financial freedom & getting educated I would highly recommend investing in cashflow real estate.  When you learn how to make money with real estate, you can get infinite returns on your money and 30% returns are low!

Plus today's market is ideal for the buy/hold investor.  Prices are cheaper, mortgage interest rates are at all time lows, rents are going up = ideal investment opportunity for the smart investor.

It all depends on your perspective and what you want to pursue.

Hope this helps.

RE:How to find a good financial planner?
I agree. I'm negotiating with a financial planner right now. I asked him, what does he invest his money in? He said "cattle mostly". He has 75 head of cattle, which around here is guarenteed money come slaughter. After he told me this, I'm more tempted to invest in physical property, not a blip on a computer screen that makes me 7% a year.

I'm seriously considering a career change. If it pans out, I'll be putting close to 20% of my income into acquiring real property. And if it doesn't, I'll be putting 20% into physical investments.
