May I Have Your Attention?

The purpose and the intent of Rich Woman are to educate and encourage women to move towards financial freedom for themselves and their families. The key word being freedom. Wealth is not simply about having money; it is about having the freedom to choose how to live your life. So even though Rich Woman focuses on financial freedom, it encompasses the ideal of freedom on many levels.

If I’m encouraging women to get educated, then I had better be doing the same. Last weekend, I attended a financial seminar hosted by Bert Dohmen, who the Wall Street Journal calls “one of the world’s leading ‘Fed watchers’.” His expertise is investment research and his talk was fascinating. He is a wealth of information and I learned a great deal. There was one thing in particular I learned in talking with Bert that disturbed me enough to write about it and share it with you. There is a law that was recently passed by the U.S. Senate and put into law by President Obama on December 31, 2011 that, in my opinion, directly threatens our individual freedom and liberty. It is called the National Defense Appropriations Act and many, if not most, Americans do not know this law exists. This is a U.S. law and example, but it is an issue that citizens in many countries face.

This new law comes under the government heading of protecting Americans from terrorists.

However, the reality of this law is pretty scary. The National Defense Appropriations Act places U.S. terror investigations and interrogations into the hands of the military. In other words, the government can lock up any American citizen it swears is a terrorist, without any proof. This person can be held without any charges filed against him or her, without a trial, without being convicted of a crime, and for an indefinite period of time. As a suspected terrorist, they could even be shipped out of the country to Guantanamo Bay or other countries. The Sixth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees every U.S. citizen the right to a trial. This law wipes out the Sixth Amendment. So much for innocent until proven guilty, the cornerstone of Americans’ legal rights.

To add to this insanity there are laws on the books right now that characterize who might be a terrorist:

  • Someone missing fingers on their hand is a suspect
  • Someone who owns guns
  • Someone who has more than 7 days of food in their house

If you meet one of these criteria, then you could be considered a potential terrorist.

And as a suspected, not convicted, terrorist you could find yourself locked away indefinitely, without being charged with a crime, with no right to a trial and with a great loss of your liberty.

This is a loss of our freedom, a loss of our liberty. The government presents these types of laws as steps to further protect us from terrorism, when in fact it is an attempt to remove more and more of the freedoms that most of us still assume we have, but are quickly slipping away.

This is not a Democrat or Republican issue. This is an issue of our freedom.

As a young girl in t question is simply, what the hell happened?

Why do I bring this to your attention? Because being free means being true to who you are and standing up for what you believe. For me, there comes a point when enough is enough. And this is enough. This is a U.S. example but it is a global issue.

The more educated and aware individuals are about issues such as these, then the greater our chances to affect change that supports the freedom and liberty that we value.

Please be true to you. Please keep getting educated.

Dear Kim, I couldn't agree more with you. Being from communist Russia it is sad for me to see this county getting off the course and following the worst examples! When goverment becomes a control freak that is getting closer to dictatorship, new faces, but same system. Not far from rewriting the Constitution because how much more can you stretch the law? It is sad to see what a lot of people are becoming, how they grow poorer every day, how they refuse awareness and still believe in govermnent... I'm just happy that I have such a great Mentors as You and Robert and your amazing Tigrent team. Thank you for keeping us aware and educating and guiding us in this difficult time.

I am writing to say thanks for providing so much information on this blog. Thanks Kim, it is a great tool for my financial education. By 2010, Many highly educated people who spent many years in schools and colleges to study their chosen field have realized that there is a global financial crisis and it is really difficult to find a job. Millions of people who have lost their jobs have no idea what they should do about it. They are highly educated and well trained in their chosen field but still they are struggling to make ends meet. The real problem of the people who are struggling in this crisis is that they lack financial education. For more information… http://www.readtoawake.com/unfair-advantage/

I just got out of the Marine Corps, and find it interesting to read this. "...can lock up any American citizen it swears is a terrorist, without any proof..." Yes, the military can confine someone for a very long time if they think you are involved in a crime. At the same time, they can prosecute you with no hard evidence. One person saying you did something is enough for them to sentence you to many years in prison. It truly is a sad system that practices guilty until proven innocent, and with the military having a 95%+ conviction rate, the "fair trial" saying does not apply. There is no justice. It needs change.

What's really fun is that a suit cannot be brought forward unless someone have been hurt by the new law. So it cannot be reviewed by the judicial branch for constitutional validity until people start disappearing. And for the record it got overwhelming support from the house and senate on both sides of the isle. http://www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml Get involved
