World woefully lacking in female self-made billionaires

Consider these disappointing statistics:
• Of the top 10 wealthiest women in the world, every single one inherited their wealth from a male relative.
• Of the world's 1,011 self-made billionaires (those who made their own money rather than inheriting it), only 14 are women.
What do you think is the reason for this huge discrepancy? Is the business world still stacked against women? Is it because most women are adverse to the idea of being extremely rich? Do women care more about "the mission" than making a lot of money? What is holding us back, and how do we get beyond it?

I was just looking at something similar the other day. I was viewing the top 100 most successful women by Forbes to pick out mentors and role models. It was a disappointing list and at the end of it, I decided that you were going to be my role model Kim! I think that women have more obstacles because of child bearing and raising. I think women are a little more emotional which can be an advantage over men if harnessed appropriately. We also haven't been in the business world as long as men. I think women make better business owners than men in a lot of circumstances. Sometimes business can be ruthless too. Maybe the majority of women aren't used to that. I know I'm not. Thanks for the blog Kim.

I have been always told to mary a good husband by my relatives and friends. A good husband means that the guy must be rich and good tempered! i think that's why we are not rich! It's the education! Fortunately, there is new thoughts from you, which inspires me a lot! Thanks for the blog kim!
