This crisis is confusing, sad, and entertaining. I especially thought it sad and amusing that Americans went over to Europe to advise the leaders of the European Union (EU) on how to clean up the European financial mess. Americans caused this mess. Now we tell the EU how to clean their mess up. We have bigger messes to clean up at home.
Then Mr. Jean-Claude Trichet, head of the European Central Bank (ECB) comes to America and politely tells Americans they don’t understand the European situation—that Americans shouldn’t poke their noses into the 17-member European Union. The problems in the EU are different than the problems in America, Trichet said…and they are.
